Watch how PRIMEX works

Two short animated films: how written answers are marked criterion by criterion against an examiner-style rubric, and how the viva simulator runs the oral exam conversation. Both aligned to the published curriculum and current Australasian guidelines.

Read the transcript

The hardest part of a fellowship exam is not the knowledge. It is knowing whether your answers would score. With PRIMEX you answer exam style short answer questions under time, and every answer is marked criterion by criterion. You see what scored and what was missed, with feedback aligned to your college curriculum and current Australasian guidelines. From first part primaries to final fellowships. PRIMEX. Practise like the exam, before the exam.

How candidates prepare for the CICM Second Part Paediatric

CICM Second Part Paediatric SAQ grader: a topic entry box, a random SAQ set, a 10-minute timer and an answer field
Marking points. Every time. No guessing.

Write a Second Part Paediatric SAQ and get an examiner-style debrief: tier (Fail / Borderline / Pass / Distinction), a score out of 10 marks the way the real written papers are marked, a marking checklist with every point flagged as hit or missed, an examiner comment, and a full model answer. Written to the standard of CICM exam reports.

  • Fail / Borderline / Pass / Distinction tier with score out of 10 marks
  • Every marking point checked against CICM examiner report themes
  • Model answer with paediatric doses, weight-based values, and clinical management
  • Topic sessions or random sets from the question library
  • AI question generation in Second Part Paediatric SAQ format
CICM Second Part Paediatric oral simulator: station setup with structured viva and hot case modes
An AI examiner for the oral section. Day or night.

Mirrors the real oral section: structured vivas with a 2-minute reading period then about 10 minutes of discussion, plus paediatric ICU hot cases where you work through the unwell child. Voice mode transcribes spoken answers using medical speech recognition.

  • Structured viva format: 2 min reading, then about 10 min of discussion
  • Paediatric ICU hot cases: assessment and management of the critically ill child
  • Voice mode: speak your answer, no typing needed
  • Debrief with tier, strengths, gaps, and key learning after each session
  • Covers the 21 sections of the Second Part Paediatric syllabus
A spoken mock viva. A graded readiness verdict.

Work through a full mock viva out loud with this college's AI examiner, in real time. Answer by voice, get probed and interrupted the way the real examiner would, then step out to a graded debrief: a readiness verdict, the topics you covered, your strengths and gaps, and how you handled the pressure. Every mock viva feeds your weak-topic plan, so what to practise next is always clear.

  • Real-time spoken viva in this college's examiner voice, fully interruptible
  • Graded readiness verdict: on track, borderline, or at risk
  • Communication and composure feedback: pacing, hesitation, clarity under pressure
  • Weak topics flow straight into your study plan and daily practice
  • Part of PRIMEX Pro, with monthly mock vivas included
CICM Second Part Paediatric flashcards: a revealed spaced-repetition card with Again, Hard, Good and Easy grading
2,800 cards. Spaced repetition. Paediatric ICU.

2,800 curriculum-mapped flashcards across the paediatric intensive care curriculum, with spaced repetition: cards you get right come up less often, cards you miss come back sooner. Card types include clinical management, paediatric drug profile, weight-based dosing, normal values by age, and ICU clinical correlates.

  • 2,800 cards across the 21 Second Part Paediatric sections
  • Card types: management, drug profile, weight-based dosing, normal values by age
  • Rapid recall sessions, queued by what you are due to review
  • One click from card to full study note
  • Image cards: chest films, ECGs, and paediatric ICU diagrams
CICM Second Part Paediatric study note on paediatric septic shock with an embedded interactive management diagram
85 study notes across 85 LOs. Referenced.

85 sourced study notes across the paediatric intensive care curriculum, covering the 85 learning objectives mapped across 21 sections. Written to a consistent seven-section format and aligned to the published CICM Second Part Paediatric syllabus, Australian and New Zealand guidelines, and primary literature. They surface automatically alongside SAQ and viva debriefs.

  • 85 study notes covering 85 LOs across 21 sections
  • Consistent 7-section structure: scannable, not a wall of text
  • Aligned to the published Second Part Paediatric syllabus and ANZ guidelines
  • Full-text search across all notes
  • Linked from SAQ debrief, viva feedback, and flashcards
CICM Second Part Paediatric curriculum tracker: learning objectives grouped by section with coverage counts
85 learning objectives. Every Second Part Paediatric LO mapped.

The CICM Second Part Paediatric syllabus defines 85 learning objectives across 21 sections. PRIMEX maps every LO to the study notes and flashcards that cover it, with a Curriculum tab showing a checkbox checklist and progress bar so you know exactly how much of the syllabus you've covered.

  • All 85 Second Part Paediatric LOs across 21 sections
  • Checkbox completion persisted across sessions
  • Click any LO to jump directly to the relevant study note
  • Per-section and overall progress bars at a glance
CICM Second Part Paediatric interactive diagram: a paediatric ICU trainer with Explore, Recall and Exam modes
Paediatric ICU you manipulate, not memorise.

Interactive, active-recall trainers built for the clinical reasoning the Second Part Paediatric leans on. Tap and drag the live model (paediatric ventilation, fluid and shock resuscitation, ABG and acid-base interpretation, the oxygen cascade, inotrope and vasopressor selection) and watch the traces, values, and interpretation update in real time, then test yourself in Recall and Exam modes.

  • Trainers across respiratory, cardiovascular, acid-base, and pharmacology
  • Paediatric ventilation, fluid resuscitation, ABG, and the oxygen cascade
  • Explore freely, then test recall against the model in Recall and Exam modes
  • Embedded directly in the matching study notes
Written readiness. Always know where the evidence stands.

An adaptive study plan counts down to your CICM Second Part Paediatric exam date and tells you what to study next. The written-readiness score combines eligible syllabus coverage with accuracy from recognised written results. Activity pace and supplemental practice are shown separately and do not change the score.

  • Days-to-exam countdown and pace tracking, ahead or behind
  • Written-readiness score backed by eligible written assessments
  • Coverage and accuracy broken out with evidence context
  • Activity pace and weekly target shown separately from readiness
